At the start of every new year, I like to pull out my little notebook to review what goals were achieved and what I missed. Equally important to reviewing my goals, I also like to review the items I wrote down to see how far I came from the year before.
If you didn’t know Enneagram threes, are individuals who are motivated by success, crossing items off their task lists and beyond that completing goals. Guess what my enneagram is?
After all of these years, I still truly try to take time to remember to celebrate ALL wins. To do that I decided every year, I would spend some time putting together something to show what I accomplished. How many couples I captured or worked with. How many weddings I captured. What cities I got the incredible opportunity to travel to or photograph beautiful people in. 2019, was no different as it presented me with a lot of new adventures, new opportunities, & new couples. Let’s take a look at the year in a snap shot!
2019 was a tough year. My first year as a full time wedding photographer, I truly adapted & submersed myself in the hustle mindset. I overworked myself to the point of exhaustion. I was home on only 8 of 52 weekends. My family missed me and boy did my husband. In all transparency, my husband gave me an ultimatum. Take a moment to step back, slow down & be home more or he was leaving me. WHEW! What a conversation to have tossed at you, as your packing up your gear to leave for a wedding. I spent that whole wedding feeling like an absolute imposter.
Here I am celebrating and photographing a wedding, full of laughter, happiness and love. Yet I am feeling like the world around me was imploding. I had made more money that I ever dreamed. Yet at the end of the day my personal world was falling apart.
Here is what I am committing to today: a slower pace of life. I’m committing to creating healthy boundaries. I made a commitment around Thanksgiving, to join a mastermind. I’m praying this opportunity will continue to guide me through this journey, while teaching me smarter ways to grow my business. I hope that when I come back at the end of this year with new insights, a clearer understanding of life & work balance. A stronger relationship with my daughter & husband.
I hope your year is filled with the same.
Sending Love this Year.
